Patio cover

After the fabric cover blew off the portable gazebo in the winter of 2006, we decided to build a permanent cover over our spa.  The entire project took about two weeks to complete.

Here's the original portable gazebo.  The fabric cover didn't last for one season due to the high winds we experience around here.

First, you cut a hole in the patio – (oops, it’s MORE than 2 feet deep!)  - It took more than 1000 lbs. of cement to fill each post hole. Then you cut another hole, after all, there are 4 posts…

Oops!  I forgot about those 4 pipes I installed last year – they had to be re-routed, and this hole needed 18 bags of cement to fill….

Anyway, it took a couple weeks to get all the pieces and cut, paint, and bolt them up….

  Here’s the finished product.

The roof is  comprised of SunTuf corrugated polycarbonate panels.

The polycarbonate roofing filters the light partially  without completely blocking it.

Heather installed the new light.
